Our Story
Arledge Construction Inc. was founded in 1990 by Richard B. “Dick” Arledge. Dick put his 25+ years of concrete experience into action upon the arrival of his son Craig Arledge who was moving back from his electronics job in Miami, Florida.
Dick set out to create work for Craig “just for the summer” since Craig wasn’t sure about his future career plans. Craig decided in the company’s first year that he enjoyed doing concrete work and chose to stick around for the long run.
Craig’s brother, Phil Arledge, joined the business in 1993 after his graduation from Ohio University. Like Craig, Phil wasn’t necessarily signing on for the long haul at that time, but soon decided that he also really enjoyed the work.
Dick, Craig, and Phil shared a high level of work ethic that helped shape Arledge Construction’s business path. Hard work, commitment, and customer loyalty are a few of the defining qualities that have set the course for the company. The father and sons trio worked hard to grow the business over the years to come.
Dick faithfully served the business, often working long hours while still maintaining his career at the U.S. Army Corp of Engineers over the next several years. Dick retired from the Corp in 1998 to fully dedicate all of his time to Arledge Construction. Dick began to step away from his duties in the business in 2004 and fully retired in 2007 when he confidently turned the company over to his two sons.
Phil exited field operations in 2010 when he joined Craig in the office full time. With Craig serving as the Company’s President and Phil as the Vice President and Chief Estimator; the brothers began adding key personnel as they began a strategic growth plan with the goal of expanding the company’s abilities, size of projects and volume of work performed. However, just as important to Phil and Craig was building an organization that could offer its people top pay, the best benefits, and a place to grow and prosper along with the company.
The brothers’ plan was recognized when annual sales had grown by 260% by 2015 and by 350% by 2017.
As of 2020, Craig currently acts as the company’s President and CEO, while Phil serves as Arledge Construction’s Vice President and Director of Construction and Field Operations.
A Special Thanks to My Dad
I never imagined back in the summer of 1990 that Arledge Construction would become what it is today. As a matter of fact; I never imagined that that I would be doing concrete work past that season. Many of our employees and colleagues today have no idea of our humble beginnings. Nor do they know the hard work, dedication and sacrifice that was put forth by my dad; Richard B. “Dick” Arledge. Dick worked two jobs for the first 8 years of our business. I believe work ethic is taught and I definitely know where I learned mine. His dedication and hard work laid the foundation for what Arledge Construction is today. And for that, I am eternally grateful!
